Meet Alyse Yoder, MSW, LICSW

Child, Teen & Young Adult Therapist in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

Helping children, teens, and young adults navigate anxiety, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and feel more comfortable being themselves.

Growing up and figuring out who you are isn't always easy. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling with confidence, navigating complicated friendships, or wondering where you fit in. Or perhaps you're a parent watching your child struggle with these challenges and wishing you knew how to help.

Whether you're navigating middle school friendships, preparing for college, adjusting to adulthood, or working through questions about your identity, you deserve a space where you can explore what you're feeling without worrying about being judged.

I'm Alyse Yoder, a licensed clinical social worker at Creekside Counseling in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

I work with children ages 8 and older, teenagers, and young adults who are navigating anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, identity exploration, and life transitions.

My goal is to create a calm, welcoming space where you can show up exactly as you are. You don't need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. We'll start wherever you are and work together to better understand what you're experiencing.

I especially enjoy supporting teens and young adults as they navigate the challenges that come with growing up, developing independence, and discovering who they are.

My areas of specialty include:

  • Anxiety & Overthinking: Managing worry, uncertainty, self-doubt, and the pressure to meet expectations.

  • Self-Esteem & Confidence: Building a healthier relationship with yourself, challenging negative self-talk, and learning to recognize your strengths.

  • Identity Exploration: Understanding who you are, what matters to you, and how your experiences shape the way you see yourself and the world.

  • Friendships & Relationships: Navigating peer relationships, conflict, communication challenges, boundaries, and changing relationships.

  • Life Transitions: Adjusting to new schools, college, adulthood, changing friendships, and other major life changes.

  • Adoption & Identity: Exploring the complex emotions, relationships, cultural experiences, and identity questions that can come with being adopted.

  • Religious Deconstruction: Processing changing beliefs, questions about faith, and the impact these experiences may have on your identity and relationships.

I also have experience supporting clients with body image concerns and the emotional challenges that can arise during adolescence and young adulthood.

What It's Like to Work With Me

My goal is to create a calm, welcoming space where you feel comfortable being yourself without fear of judgment. I've been told by previous clients and families that I bring a calming presence to sessions, and I love incorporating humor when appropriate. Sometimes laughter can make difficult conversations feel a little lighter!

My approach is relational, compassionate, and rooted in curiosity. I incorporate strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients better understand their emotions, build coping skills, and navigate relationships.

Above all, I want you to feel heard, understood, and supported as you develop a stronger sense of who you are.

A Special Interest in Adoption & Identity

As a Korean American adoptee myself, I have a special interest in supporting adoptees, including transracial adoptees, as they explore questions of identity, belonging, and relationships.

Adoption can bring complex emotions, including gratitude, grief, loss, and identity confusion. Too often, adoptees feel pressure to focus on the positive aspects of their experience without having space to process the more difficult parts.

I believe all of these feelings deserve to be acknowledged. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where adoptees can explore their experiences, better understand themselves, and feel comfortable embracing every part of their story.

A Little More About Me

Outside the therapy office, I love going on walks with my husband and our two dogs, reading, crocheting, and spending time with friends. Bonus points if there's ice cream involved!

I'm also a runner and have completed 15 half marathons and one full marathon. When I'm not injured, I love finding new trails to explore.

One of my favorite reminders is, "Be curious, not judgmental."

I think this applies just as much to how we treat ourselves as it does to how we approach others. We're often our own harshest critics, and learning to replace some of that judgment with curiosity can make a meaningful difference in how we understand ourselves.

It's a philosophy I bring into my work as a therapist, too.

I'd love to connect and learn more about how I can support you or your child.

Whether you're a parent looking for support for your child, a teenager navigating friendships and growing independence, or a young adult trying to figure out your next chapter, you don't have to work through everything alone.

Therapy can be a place to slow down, better understand yourself, and build the confidence to navigate life's challenges in a way that feels authentic to you.

At Creekside Counseling in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, I offer individual therapy for children ages 8 and older, teens, and young adults throughout the Twin Cities, including Chanhassen, Minnetonka, Edina, and Chaska.
